Joo Chiat Ah Huat Wanton Mee - Previously known as Ang Moh Wanton Mee
Wanton Mee for $3.50 - great way to kick start a Sunday...
Ang Moh Wanton mee is just the number one wanton mee for me! Glad to find it again, now at Dunman Food Centre.
Sucks to be the one who bought over the Ang Moh Wanton Mee store @ Tembeling though, but hey, I am not complaining since the standard just wasn't as good as the original. Since now the owners have decided to make a comeback, the allegiance to the original wanton mee quickly follows. It's the same old great taste!
What's great is just how everything blends together, from the noodles, to the wanton, to the chilli. Shiok ah!
The texture and flavour of the noodles are very good and the sauce is well balanced, not overly spicy or sweet like some other stores which I shall not name. Also, the wantons are nice and are cooked fresh rather than pre-cooked and left to congeal in a dish. Maybe one thing that can be improved is the char siew. It is the generic type procured from a supplier and is the typical reddish, sweetish, boiled charsiew which lacks that black charred bits which gives that added oomph to good char siew.
