An Iron Man Weekend

Review

I caught Iron Man 3 this weekend at Tiong Bahru Plaza. Fast-paced, action-packed, overall a good action movie but not a great comic book one. There was more focus on Tony Stark, but less on Iron Man and the perennial bad guy, the Mandarin. Wasn't he suppose to be a genius scientist and a superhumanly skilled martial artist, with ten power rings? I wonder what happened to all that.

Good plot though with a number of plot twists and the action scenes were well filmed. There's also the charisma of Robert Downey Jr, which delivers the role of Tony Stark / Iron Man with much suave and style. It is pure popcorn-chomping entertainment.

I quite like how they and it made me read up more on the whole Iron Man Extremis Arc, which you can get a pretty good summary and coverage of the comic book series over here. I liked how the Fire breathing bit of Mallen carried over to the movie.

One great thing at Tiong Bahru Golden Village is that seats on a weekend is still pretty empty and makes for a good place to catch a movie in short notice, though if you are placed in Hall 2, I do suggest Row H or I. They are central seats and not too forward that you crane your neck for the movie.
